Daddy, are we there yet? How many times have you heard that? And it you have ever tried to treat you family to an international vacation, it is usually a long, long time until you arrive. It’s a wonderful thing to present your family with the opportunity for international travel but it can be a lot easier than you might think if you choose to visit a near by neighbor. The neighbor I am thinking about is Canada, our northern neighbor. If you travel by car, it will only be necessary for you to have a passport card but if you are going to fly, you will need to get your U.S. passport application forms filled out and submitted and there are many online passport sites available to help you with the process.

Getting a passport used to be a scary process but new internet sites have made the application process trouble free. Perhaps you have a current passport but all the pages have been filled. Expedited US passport pages can be ordered right from you home computer and before you know it, you will have all your travel documents in order and you will be on your way.

There are many beautiful provinces to visit in Canada and one of the most inviting is the province of Alberta.  Located north of Montana, this beautiful territory is enriched by the Rocky Mountains, badlands and beautiful green space populated with wildflowers and wildlife.  All of this and much more make Alberta quite irresistible.

Two of the most famous cities in Alberta are Calgary and Edmonton.  These two large beautiful cities have everything city life anywhere could offer.  Calgary was the site of the winter Olympics and in preparation for this event, every attraction and convenience any visitor could want was built.  From fine dining to world class shopping to fabulous accommodations, Calgary has it all.  Edmonton is Alberta’s capital city and is called the “Festival City” of Canada. Shopping, sidewalk cafes as well as first class restaurants are everywhere making your selection difficult but our enjoyment complete.

Midland Provincial Park is located in the Badlands of Alberta and is know to be an excellent site to participate in an archeological dig.  An abundance of fossils revealing secrets from prehistoric times can be found everywhere in this area which was once a mining town.  For the armature paleontologist, the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology is a rare find and hours can be spent studying the displayed specimens.  If all of this isn’t enough for you, a variety of water activities and mountain climbing are also available to enjoy.

The beautiful expansive meadows and terrain of this beautiful country make horseback riding a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the vistas while enjoying the company of family and friends.  If you are a little more of an adventurer, you might want to try some mountain climbing or white water rafting.  This province really has it all from mountains to lakes, castles to be explored and paths to be explored.  The awesome terrain coupled with the hustling cities provides everything any vacationer could ever want.

It’s hard to imagine how anyone could resist making plans to visit this beautiful land and to share it with their family and friends.  Don’t delay getting your U.S. passport application form. Download it online and get it filled out so you can be on your way.  If you are an experienced traveler and have filled up on the pages in your current passport, expedited US passport pages are available from an online passport site like uspassportnow.com. Alberta, Canada is filled with northern neighbors who are waiting to make you welcome.

I agree! Originally from Alberta, I now reside in Manitoba, but still come back to my home province often. Alberta is so beautiful! If you ever get a chance, check out the Travel Alberta Centre, actually located right on the US/Canada border, in the West Glacier Park (South of Waterton Park) It has an excellent little museum showcasing all the beauty that Alberta has to offer.
